Atlantic Financial Planning is a limited liability company and investment advisory firm registered in Maryland and Washington, D.C. We provide personal financial planning solutions on a fee-only basis. We easily accommodate out-of-state clients via virtual meeting technology.

Fee-Only Compensation and a Fiduciary Role

Atlantic Financial Planning does not receive commissions, sell financial products, or charge fees based upon a percentage of clients' assets or net worth.  Fees are determined on an hourly basis.   All fees are fully disclosed before an engagement begins.

We adhere to the Institute for the Fiduciary Standard's Best Practices.

An Independent Practice with Trusted Affiliations
Atlantic Financial Planning is entirely independent.  The practice is not affiliated with any banks, insurance companies, brokers or other financial institutions.

We are a member of NAPFA (the National Association of Professional Financial Advisors) the nation’s largest, and most trusted fee-only financial planning association.

An Open-Door Approach to Planning
There are no income or net worth minimum requirements . The company’s unique approach to engagements puts financial planning, guidance, and education within the reach of individuals and families of all income levels.  Our clients include young families, retirees, corporate and government employees, teachers, business owners, and even recent college grads.



Charles Ryan, CFP®

Prior to starting his own practice, Charles worked for several fee-only financial planning firms.  He has also worked as a financial planning software developer which helped him gain a deep technical understanding of how a financial plan should be optimally integrated.  Additionally, he is a financial researcher whose work has been published in the Journal of Financial Planning and featured in The Wall Street Journal.  He earned a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, Finance from Northeastern University.  He serves on the board of the Financial Education Foundation of Anne Arundel County and is a retired Navy commander.
